Nico Schmedemann

Nico Schmedemann graduated in geology at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universit├Ąt in Greifswald/Germany in 2006. The topic of his diploma thesis (comparable to master thesis) was the modeling of compaction processes within unconsolidated water saturated sediments. Since that time he is working as a researcher at the Freie Universit├Ąt Berlin/Germany. He is mainly working with Cassini and Dawn data in order to analyze cratering records for the determination of surface ages and the related geologic development of the mid-sized Saturnian satellites and Main Belt asteroids especially Vesta and dwarf planet Ceres. He authored and co-authored 17 refereed papers that include: geologic mapping and interpretation of planetary surfaces, surface age determination by analysis of crater size-frequency distributions, scaling between projectile and crater distributions, conversion of cratering records among different planetary bodies, compaction processes within sediments and sea level rise after the last glaciation.
